He and Ferdia trained to be evenly matched

Raised to centre round the sword
Til death at the foot of a horde
Crippled through indecision
Not to defile their mission
Ulster Cu Chulainn finds, Connacht for Ferdia
Set at opposite ends of a conflict set to transpire
While the truth lay buried in the snow

The luck of the draw finds a wound worse than any knife could blow
Were they to know
Of their impending fight
Might they have reconsidered
Or reconciled?

Blood for blood

Medb longs after a bull
Owned by Conchobar and his people
A brown bull - a symbol of power and wealth
War begins and they meet to fight man on man
Cú Chulainn chosen as conchobar's champion
Medb sends man after man
Each slain by Setanta, the strongest in the land

Finally it comes to Ferdia
He who was once as a brother, but now no more
Four days upon the ford
Needlessly
Until the spear Gae Bolg pierces Ferdia's cloth
Ferdia slain
His body shall decay forever more
Ferdia lain across the border
This Queen Medb's true treachery
